How we use AI
We use AI to write code faster. We want you to know exactly what that means, because a studio that is vague about it is usually hiding something.
The short version
AI writes a meaningful share of the code we ship. A human designs the system, reviews every line, tests it and signs it off. We are contractually and professionally accountable for the result, exactly as we would be if every character had been typed by hand — because from your side, that distinction is the only one that matters.
The reason we are open about it: the alternative is charging you 2019 prices for 2026 tooling and hoping you do not notice. We would rather explain the trade and let you decide.
What AI does here
- Scaffolding — generating the repetitive structure every project needs before the interesting work starts
- Boilerplate and repetitive markup, where the hundredth form field is identical to the first
- First-draft tests, which we then read and correct
- Refactoring suggestions and catching the kind of typo a tired human misses at 6pm
- Speeding up research — reading documentation faster than we could ourselves
What it never does
- Decide your architecture, your data model or your security approach. Those are judgement calls and they are ours.
- Touch client production data or credentials.
- Write claims about your business that you have not read and approved.
- Get the final word on anything. Every line is reviewed by a person before it reaches you.
- Replace the conversation where we work out what you actually need.
What this means for your price
A custom business website used to be four to six weeks of billable work. A large part of that was mechanical — the same patterns, rebuilt from scratch for every client. That part is now hours instead of days, and we have put the saving into the price rather than the margin. It is the honest answer to "how can it be R5 500?", and it is a better answer than the usual one, which is that the studio is quietly using a bought template.
What this means for quality
AI-generated code is confidently wrong often enough that shipping it unreviewed would be negligent. So we do not. It is reviewed, tested against real browsers and real devices, checked for accessibility, and measured for speed before launch. Where a mistake would be expensive — payment handling, personal information, authentication — we are slower and more careful, not faster.
What this means for your data
We do not put client production data, customer records or credentials into AI tools. Development happens against test data. That is both a POPIA position and simple professional hygiene, and we hold it whether or not anyone is checking.
And the content on your site?
We will happily draft copy to get you unstuck — a blank page is the most common reason a website sits unfinished for months. But nothing describing your business goes live until you have read it and confirmed it is true. We do not invent credentials, statistics, testimonials or claims. If you have noticed how carefully every award and article on this site links out to its source, that is the same principle applied to us.
Questions about AI and your project
Is my website actually custom if AI helped build it?
Yes. Solis & Luna designs each site around the specific business — its structure, content and the decisions its customers need to make. AI accelerates the mechanical parts of turning that design into working code. It is the difference between a tailor using a sewing machine and a shop selling you an off-the-rack suit.
Who is responsible if something breaks?
We are, entirely. How the code was written changes nothing about our accountability. If something we built breaks, we fix it.
Do you put my business data into AI tools?
No. Solis & Luna does not put client production data, customer records or credentials into AI tools. Development runs against test data. This is both a POPIA position and standard professional practice.
Will the content on my site be AI-written?
Only if you want a draft to work from, and only after you have read and approved it. Nothing describing your business is published without your confirmation, and we never invent credentials, statistics or testimonials.
Tell us what you are trying to build
A short message is enough to start. A person reads every enquiry and replies within one working day — and if we are not the right fit for your project, we will say so instead of selling you something.
